MSA Design collaborated with Mount St. Joseph University to prepare and submit a registration form for Mater Dei Chapel to be included in the National Register of Historic Places. The chapel’s inclusion is based on its significant artistic value in terms of design, subject matter, materials, form, and historical integrity, falling under Criteria C (Consideration A) with a focus on the realm of Art.
Preserving the Space
Mount St. Joseph has a passion for Mater Dei Chapel as it is the heart of the campus. The Chapel has not been renovated since it was constructed in 1962. In 2022, Mount St. Joseph University reached out to MSA Design to assist in minor renovations. It was MSA Design that suggested to Mount St. Joseph University that they should consider nominating the Chapel to the National Register for additional funding opportunities. After successfully completing the historic nomination process, MSA Design is now working with the University to renovate the interior of Mater Dei Chapel.
