This new athletic complex replaces a 50+ year old stadium with a new home for the Chesapeake High School Panthers – a renowned high school athletic program in Southeast Ohio that competes in the Ohio Valley Conference.
The site has limited area for expansion and is located between the existing High School, Middle School, a highway, and is less than a block from the Ohio River. Chesapeake is across the river from downtown Huntington, West Virginia.
The complex will consist of a new 500 seat visitor grandstand, 1000 seat home grandstand and press box, a new synthetic turf playing field, and 6-lane 400 M synthetic track.
A new home training/locker room building is planned to contain a weight training area, athletic trainer offices, coaches offices, and home locker room. The new east service building will contain a visitor locker room, fan restrooms, field storage, and concession area. The District is reviewing phasing options to allow the complex to be “built out” in the future as funding for separate components becomes available.
