MSA provided full architectural services for the first phase of work following the Master Plan which included the demolition of two out-dated buildings and the construction of a new Health Care Center. The new 75,000 sf facility is a self-contained living environment and includes forty skilled nursing units, forty assisted living units, a dining facility, therapy and activity areas, common living space and administrative spaces. The design expresses the core values and the mission of the Sisters which is to provide comfort, community and quality of life for its aging members. The building’s orientation on the site is intentional to provide natural light to many of the interior spaces. The exterior courtyards with private seating areas, interior access to the existing chapel, and salvaged stained glass used in numerous key spaces are other unique design features.
