Springfield Township Police Department, consisting of 40 sworn officers, currently operated from a facility constructed in 1970. Over the past twenty years the demands of an expanded police department have limited the function and security of the current facility. The existing facilities did not meet Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA) certification. During the design process, MSA prepared alternatives that focused on improving the operational efficiency of the existing facility and accommodating an increase in the community policing of the department. Specific requirements included a clear separation of operational staff and the public. The final design option focuses on the construction of a new addition between the existing department and existing facilities and provide for a more effective working environment.
