Interior Renovation and Lighting Design

Hamilton County Court House

Cincinnati, Ohio

The purpose of this project was to increase and enhance the richness of the architecture and improve the quality of light in this space. The project included three levels of light modification. First, the existing chandeliers were renovated, restored and upgraded. New high-intensity lamps were added to bring light up through the ornate canopy of the fixture and create patterns on the ceiling. Second, new trough fixtures were added to up-light and accent each side arch. These fixtures were created as an extension of the brass door framing system and appear original to the space. Finally, new high intensity custom sconces were added to accent each cross-arch. These fixtures incorporated the existing brass finishes of the space and are simply detailed in order to serve as a background to the architecture of the lobby.
