Wolf Blumberg Krody (now WBK Marketing & Design) is an established and moderately sized advertising agency in the metropolitan Cincinnati area. As part of their relocation strategy, they acquired two floors of a dilapidated historic building for their new offices. The goal of the new space was to create a feeling of openness, yet provide areas with enclosure for privacy. Connecting the two floors was the focal point of the design strategy. Because WBK occupied the top two floors of the building, the design incorporated an upper “penthouse” space and a large, central atrium. The atrium became the “front door” on the upper floor and was connected to the floor below with an open staircase. In addition, the renovation also required complete replacement of all major building systems.
